Gaan Canyon (Devil's Canyon), Superior, AZ

This canyon and surrounding country are an incredible mix of chaparral, Sonoran Desert, and madrean influenced vegetation enhanced by stunning rock formations and rare perennial creeks.

Sadly this wonderland, popular with rock climbers, birders, and campers is under threat of total decimation by a foreign mining company with a bad track record, Rio Tinto. See more about this threat at the AZ Mining Reform Coalition website. Also see more about Gaan Canyon flora and fauna (PDF).
