This small range hugs the border west of Sasabe, Sonora. The Baboquivari Mountains gradually diminish at their southern end, just before the border, where the Pozo Verde Mountains pick up–being somewhere between small mountains and large hills.
This spot has been occupied by humans for a very long time. The current residents live right on top of a native site loaded with pottery sherds and other items. Nearby a trash heap from the wagon days contains all types of interesting items. During those days this spot was a rare stopover spot with permanent water in vast and dry landscape.
