Sierra Huachinera
The Sierra Huachinera in Eastern Sonora (2630 meters) is tied, mas o menos, with the Sierra Los Ajos to the North for the highest point in Sonora. On this trip (Aug. 2006) we fought through torrential rains, flooding and numerous flat tires to explore these sierra as well as the El Riito drainage East of Nacori Chico. We came away with a number of nice photos as well as great bird, herp, and plant records including the Brown-backed Solitaire, Aztec Thrush, Red-faced Warbler, Spotted Box Turtle, and Mazatlan Toad. And we even made it back alive!
